Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position builds foundational grooming skills while contributing to store operations in a dynamic pet retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions for all pets.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and rebooking procedures.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our technical exam and Salon Academy for success. Ideal candidates thrive under pressure, communicate effectively, stay organized, and handle physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs in a wet, pet-hair-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, along with computer proficiency and a passion for pets.
