Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Ft. McMurray, Alberta, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, ensure humane conditions, and promote sales to meet targets. Assist with sick/injured pets and other store duties as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, computer proficiency, and composure under pressure. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays.

Essential Physical Demands

Stand, walk, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs frequently (team lift 100+ lbs), with specific vision for depth perception. Work in a fast-paced pet salon environment.
