Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in a dynamic pet retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills exceeding company expectations.
- Enhance pet parent experience through greetings, consultations, reservations, check-in/out, and reminder calls.
- Drive salon sales by recommending solutions, merchandise, and services to meet targets.
- Maintain salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to sick/injured pets.
- Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a wet, noisy environment with pet hair. Flexible availability required.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (experience)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)
