Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee in Garland, Texas, you'll join our Professional Styling team for hands-on training through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision, develop expert grooming skills while delivering exceptional salon services, ensuring pet safety and positive pet parent experiences. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a certified Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
Perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments while prioritizing pet health and safety.
Daily Operations
- Engage pet parents in-person, phone, and at register
- Execute reminder calls and client record management
- Identify and address sick/injured pets promptly
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and flexibility for evenings/weekends required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.

- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, and grooming services including nail trims and sanitary care

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
