Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Gastonia, North Carolina, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role, obtained after completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, recommend wellness solutions, and promote services to drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, ensure humane pet conditions, and take immediate action for sick or injured pets. Assist in other departments as needed while following all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may be required). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include strong communication, organizational abilities, composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical stamina to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment with moderate to high noise levels.
