Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills for a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and client records. Recommend wellness solutions and merchandise to boost sales. Maintain salon cleanliness and humane conditions, respond to pet health issues, and assist store-wide as needed. Uphold company policies while participating in our culture of recognition.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to detail, composure under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Proficiency in computers required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a wet, noisy environment with pet hair.
