Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Located in Geneseo, New York, this position offers a dynamic start to a rewarding career in pet care.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend solutions, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and promote sales. Maintain salon cleanliness, monitor pet health, and assist other departments as needed. Ensure humane conditions and immediate action for sick/injured pets.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, computer proficiency, composure under pressure, strong communication, and organizational abilities. Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment.
