Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bathing, brushing, nail trims, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, and salon operations while contributing to store goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
• Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions.
• Handle check-ins/outs, client consultations, reminder calls, and rebooking.
• Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You need strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, along with computer proficiency.
