Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services under supervision, build pet parent relationships, and contribute to store success. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to launch a grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care while supervised.
- Ensure pet safety, recommend wellness products, and drive salon sales.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and client communications.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and respond to pet health issues.
- Collaborate across departments to uphold PetSmart's values.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required – complete our Salon Academy for certification. You'll need strong communication, organizational skills, flexibility for varied shifts, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting. Passion for pets and customer service is essential!

- Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bathing, brushing, nail trims, and grooming services per PetSmart standards
- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage salon check-in/out, reservations, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon services and merchandise to meet sales targets
- Assist in other store departments and respond to pet emergencies
