Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Germantown, Maryland location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll engage with pet parents, provide top-tier salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a certified Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, ensure humane pet conditions, and promote sales to meet targets. Assist with sick/injured pets and other store duties as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, composure under pressure, strong communication, and organizational abilities. Be flexible with evenings, weekends, holidays; proficient in computers; capable of lifting 50+ lbs in a pet hair-filled, moderate-noise environment.
