Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on mastering industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional service to pet parents. Uphold our vision of pet safety, salon excellence, and customer satisfaction in a dynamic retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client consultations, reminder calls, and rebooking to enhance the pet parent experience.
- Respond swiftly to pet health issues and assist across store departments as required.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy for certification. Proficiency in computers, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs are essential. Strong communication, organization, and flexibility for varied shifts including evenings/weekends are key. Passion for pets and safety focus required.
