Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) at our Glenmont, New York location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role, obtained after completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents by recommending wellness solutions, managing appointments, and promoting salon sales. Maintain the highest standards of salon cleanliness and humane pet conditions, while assisting in other store areas as needed.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Greeting pet parents and handling check-in/out procedures
- Conducting reminder calls and maintaining client records
- Identifying and addressing sick/injured pets promptly
- Upholding company policies for safety and operations
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
