Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Grand Junction, Colorado, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a certified Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, ensure humane pet conditions, and promote services to hit sales targets. Assist with sick/injured pets and support other store areas as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication, and ability to stay composed under pressure are essential. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for long periods, and working in a pet hair-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
