Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services under supervision, and upholding our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. Located in Greece, New York, this position offers a dynamic start in pet care with growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations while under supervision.
- Enhance pet parent experience through consultations, reservations, check-ins, and rebooking.
- Maintain salon cleanliness and humane conditions, performing daily maintenance.
- Drive sales by recommending merchandise, services, and wellness solutions.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy for certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and flexibility for evenings/weekends required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.

- Capacity to lift 50+ pounds and handle physical demands (experience)
- Attention to detail and composure under pressure (experience)
Responsibilities

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
