Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Uphold our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon sanitation, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with sick/injured pets or other departments as needed.
Daily Operations
- Handle client records, reminder calls, and rebookings.
- Ensure humane conditions and immediate action for pet health issues.
- Follow maintenance checklists for end-of-day cleaning.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Must stand, lift 50+ lbs, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair, and be available evenings/weekends/holidays.

- Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)
