Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Obtain this position after successfully completing academy training.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments. Take immediate action for sick/injured pets and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong communication, organizational skills, and ability to stay composed under pressure. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment.
