Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Greensburg, PA location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role is perfect for passionate animal lovers eager to learn industry-best grooming techniques through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Uphold our vision of exceptional pet care while building skills in a dynamic retail salon setting.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, maintain client records, and promote services to drive salon growth. Ensure salon cleanliness, pet safety, and humane conditions daily. Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments as needed.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Conducting check-in/out procedures and reminder calls
- Recommending wellness solutions based on pet needs
- Performing end-of-day maintenance per checklists
- Selling merchandise to enhance pet parent experiences
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts). Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential. Proficiency in computer applications and passion for pets required.
