Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart’s experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you’ll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level position builds foundational skills while contributing to store operations in Greenville, SC.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe technical skills exceeding company expectations.
- Enhance pet parent experience through consultations, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and reminder calls.
- Drive salon sales by recommending merchandise, services, and wellness solutions.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Respond to pet health issues, assist other departments, and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational prowess, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled, moderately noisy environment.
