Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bathing, brushing, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, and salon operations in a fast-paced retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services like baths, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise.
- Handle salon operations: greetings, reservations, check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and record-keeping.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane pet conditions; perform daily maintenance.
- Respond to pet health issues, assist other departments, and contribute to store sales goals.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. You need flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, composure under pressure, and strong communication skills. Proficiency in computers and unwavering attention to pet safety are essential.
