Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Gulfport, Mississippi, you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage pet parents, deliver best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a skilled Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with pet emergencies or other store duties as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling for evenings/weekends/holidays, strong organization, attention to safety, and excellent communication skills. Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.

- Manage pet parent interactions including check-in/out, reservations, and rebooking
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety; perform daily maintenance
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to achieve targets
- Assist in other store departments and respond to pet health emergencies
