Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under supervision of expert stylists, mastering bath, brush, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, salon hygiene, and driving salon success through exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver supervised grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and promote services/merchandise.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; handle sick/injured pets promptly.
- Conduct check-ins/outs, reminder calls, and rebookings while upholding pet safety.
- Collaborate across departments and contribute to sales targets and store metrics.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, computer skills, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.
