Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to launch a grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and upsell services/merchandise.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, and client consultations.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions for pets.
- Respond to pet health issues and assist across store departments.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate strong communication, organization, pet handling skills, physical stamina (lifting 50+ lbs), and flexibility for evenings/weekends. Computer proficiency and composure under pressure are essential.
