Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Located in Harlingen, Texas, this position offers a dynamic start in pet care with growth potential.
Key Responsibilities
Service Delivery
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Develop safe technical skills meeting company expectations.
Customer Experience
Greet pet parents, answer questions, manage reservations, conduct check-in/out, reminder calls, and consult on services. Recommend solutions and promote sales to achieve targets.
Salon Operations
Maintain cleanliness and humane conditions per checklists. Handle sick/injured pets promptly, assist other departments, and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling, organizational skills, and strong communication required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair-filled environment.

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records

- Assist in other store departments and follow company policies
