Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from industry-leading groomers through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Under supervision, you'll master safe grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in pet care, customer engagement, and salon operations, paving the way for a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls while recommending wellness solutions.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and humane pet conditions; handle sick/injured pets promptly.
- Drive salon sales through merchandise recommendations and achieve productivity targets.
- Assist other departments and uphold company policies for pet safety and customer satisfaction.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, composure under pressure, and proficiency in computer applications. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing for shifts, and working in a wet, pet-hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
