Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll deliver best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in a dynamic pet retail setting.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments via phone/in-person, handle check-in/out procedures, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, monitor pet health, and assist across departments as needed. Ensure humane conditions and immediate action for sick/injured pets.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organizational prowess, communication, and composure under pressure. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair. Flexible schedule for evenings, weekends, holidays required. Computer proficiency essential.
