Role Overview

The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master bathing, brushing, nail trims, and full grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, and salon operations in a fast-paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver supervised grooming services per PetSmart standards, including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care.
• Build safe technical skills and recommend wellness solutions based on pet needs.
• Provide outstanding pet parent experiences through greetings, consultations, reservations, check-ins, check-outs, and rebooking.
• Maintain salon cleanliness, perform daily maintenance, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
• Drive sales by promoting services and merchandise while assisting in other store areas as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience is preferred but not required – you'll shine with successful completion of our Salon Academy and safety certification. Bring strong communication, organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to stay composed under pressure. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential, along with physical stamina to lift 50+ pounds in a pet-filled environment.
