Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll deliver best-in-class salon services under supervision while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in a dynamic pet retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments via phone and in-person, handle check-in/out procedures, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, monitor pet health, and assist other departments as needed. Follow all company policies for a safe, humane environment.
Experience & Skills
Successful PetSmart Salon Academy completion required; prior grooming experience preferred with potential technical exam. Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure essential. Must be flexible for evenings/weekends/holidays, lift 50+ lbs, and thrive in a pet hair-filled, moderate-noise setting with physical demands like standing, stooping, and reaching.
