Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level position builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Advance your career in pet grooming while contributing to store cleanliness and sales goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, execute full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Build safe technical skills exceeding company expectations.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions and promote salon services/merchandise.
- Handle check-ins, check-outs, reservations, reminder calls, and client records.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues.
- Support sales targets and assist other departments as needed.
Experience & Skills
Pet grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, composure under pressure, and strong communication/organizational skills. Depth perception and ability to work in wet, noisy environments required.
