Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while delivering positive experiences for pets and their parents. Uphold our vision of pet safety, store cleanliness, and exceptional service.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents by recommending wellness solutions, managing appointments, conducting check-ins/outs, and promoting sales. Maintain salon sanitation, identify sick/injured pets for vet transport, and assist other departments as needed. Follow all policies for a safe, clean environment.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Demonstrate safe technical skills, composure under pressure, organizational prowess, and strong communication. Be physically capable of standing, lifting 50+ lbs, and working in a pet hair-filled, noisy salon. Flexible scheduling for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.

Physical Demands

Expect frequent standing, reaching, stooping, and lifting in a moderate-to-high noise environment with wet conditions and mechanical parts.
