Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Obtain this position after successfully completing academy training.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Maintain salon cleanliness per checklists, recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, and assist with sick/injured pets or other store duties as needed. Uphold company policies, values, and safety standards.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling under pressure, strong communication, organizational prowess, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds in a wet, noisy environment with pet hair. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
