Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role is your entry into professional pet grooming. After completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll work under expert supervision to master safe, high-quality grooming services. This position emphasizes pet safety, exceptional customer service, store cleanliness, and driving salon success in a fast-paced retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and promote sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon hygiene, perform daily cleaning, and ensure humane pet conditions.
- Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and rebookings.
- Assist with sick/injured pets, work across departments, and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, composure under pressure, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs in a wet, noisy setting with pet hair exposure.
