Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, reservations, and sales to drive salon growth. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, monitor pet health, and assist across store departments as needed. Ensure humane conditions and immediate action for sick or injured pets.
Daily Operations
- Greet clients, handle check-in/out, and conduct reminder calls.
- Upsell services and merchandise to meet sales targets.
- Follow all company policies for safety and operations.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication, organizational skills, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays required. Must handle physical demands like lifting 50+ lbs, standing, and working in a pet hair-filled environment with composure under pressure.
