Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams through our renowned Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Ideal for passionate animal lovers ready to launch a rewarding career in pet grooming.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend solutions, manage appointments, maintain salon hygiene, and drive sales. Assist with store-wide duties, respond to pet health issues, and uphold company policies.
Daily Tasks Include:
- Performing supervised grooming services
- Greeting clients and handling reservations
- Ensuring salon cleanliness and pet welfare
- Promoting services and merchandise
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Strong communication, organization, and composure under pressure are essential. Proficiency in computers, physical stamina for lifting 50+ lbs, and flexibility for evenings/weekends needed. Passion for pets and safety focus required.
