Role Overview
Our Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on learning from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide top-tier salon services under supervision, ensure pet safety, and deliver exceptional pet parent experiences. This entry-level position is perfect for animal lovers eager to develop grooming expertise while contributing to store success.
Key Responsibilities
Under guidance, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, reservations, and check-ins/outs. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments. Prioritize pet health by identifying issues and ensuring humane conditions.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply); must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Thrive in a fast-paced environment with strong organization, communication, and composure under pressure. Physical ability to stand, lift 50+ lbs, and work in a pet-filled salon. Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
