Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll provide best-in-class salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety, parent satisfaction, and salon excellence. This entry-level position builds foundational skills while contributing to store operations.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and recommend wellness solutions. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments. Ensure humane conditions, respond to pet health issues, and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply); must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Need flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, physical stamina to lift 50+ lbs, computer proficiency, strong communication, and composure under pressure. Organizational skills and pet safety focus are essential.
Physical Demands
Stand, walk, stoop, kneel, reach; lift 50 lbs individually or 100+ lbs in teams. Work in wet, noisy environments with pet hair and mechanical parts.
