Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Hurst, Texas, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming skills while delivering exceptional salon services under supervision, ensuring pet safety and positive pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, maintain client records, and recommend wellness solutions. Uphold salon cleanliness, promote sales to hit targets, and assist across departments while prioritizing pet health and safety.
Daily Operations
- Engage pet parents in-person, phone, and at register
- Execute maintenance checklists for humane conditions
- Transport sick/injured pets to vet if needed
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, ability to handle pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), strong organization, communication, and physical stamina for lifting 50+ lbs in a pet hair-filled, noisy environment.

- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
