Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe technical skills in grooming while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive outcomes. You'll uphold our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards while contributing to store cleanliness and sales growth.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and make reminder calls. Recommend wellness solutions, promote merchandise, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, identify sick/injured pets for vet transport, and assist other departments as needed. Follow all policies for a safe, humane environment.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy training and safety certification. Demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to safety, and composure under pressure. Proficiency in computers, excellent communication, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays required. Physically able to stand, lift 50+ lbs, work in wet/noisy conditions with pet hair, and climb ladders.
