Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Ithaca, New York, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe grooming skills while engaging pet parents and ensuring top-tier salon services, pet safety, and store cleanliness.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, maintain records, and recommend wellness solutions. Promote sales to hit targets, uphold salon sanitation via daily maintenance, and respond to pet health issues. Assist other departments as needed and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, computer proficiency, flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment.
