Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Jacksonville, FL location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role, obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, involves engaging pet parents, delivering best-in-class salon services, and upholding our vision for pet safety and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, recommend wellness solutions, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, ensure humane pet conditions, and respond immediately to sick or injured pets. Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping in a pet hair-filled, noisy environment.

- Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet environment (experience)
Responsibilities
- Perform supervised bath, brush, grooming, nail trims, teeth brushing under PetSmart standards
- Develop safe technical grooming skills meeting company expectations
- Recommend health/wellness solutions and merchandise to pet parents
- Manage pet parent experience including check-in/out, reservations, and consultations
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety; handle sick/injured pets
- Promote salon sales, achieve targets, and assist other departments as needed
