Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Jacksonville, FL location, you'll receive hands-on training from experienced Professional Styling teams. This entry-level role involves learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive outcomes. Obtained after completing PetSmart Grooming Academy, it's perfect for passionate animal lovers ready to build a grooming career.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, deliver full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-ins/check-outs. Promote sales, recommend wellness solutions, maintain salon cleanliness, and ensure pet safety—escalating issues like sick pets immediately. Assist other departments as needed and uphold company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key skills include pet handling, customer service, organization, communication, and composure under pressure. Physical demands: lift 50+ lbs, stand/walk extensively, work in wet/noisy environments with pet hair. Flexible schedule for evenings, weekends, holidays required. Computer proficiency essential.
