Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll engage with pet parents, provide best-in-class salon services, and uphold our vision for pet safety and customer satisfaction. This entry-level role offers a clear path to becoming a certified Pet Stylist.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, deliver full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Develop safe technical skills meeting or exceeding expectations.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls while recommending services and merchandise.
- Maintain salon cleanliness, perform end-of-day maintenance, and ensure humane conditions for all pets.
- Identify and respond to sick/injured pets, assist other departments, and drive salon sales targets.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Successful candidates demonstrate strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
