Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our expert Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. Learn industry-leading grooming techniques while delivering exceptional salon services. This entry-level role emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, and salon operations in a fast-paced retail setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Under supervision, provide full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
• Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales.
• Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
• Handle check-ins/outs, client records, reminder calls, and rebookings.
• Assist other departments and uphold company policies.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, computer proficiency, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs (team lift 100lbs+), standing, stooping, and keen depth perception.
