Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on developing safe technical grooming skills while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive salon experiences. Uphold our vision of pet safety, cleanliness, and exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, and maintain client records. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to hit targets, and keep the salon spotless. Respond to pet health issues, assist other departments, and follow all policies.
Physical Demands
Stand, walk, lift up to 50 pounds (team lift 100+), stoop, kneel, and work in a wet, pet hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise levels.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred; complete our Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computers, strong communication, organizational skills, composure under pressure, and schedule flexibility required. Passion for pets and customer service essential.

- Ability to lift 50+ pounds and handle physical demands (experience)
- Excellent written and verbal communication (experience)
Responsibilities

- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-in/out, and client records
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety standards
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and services to meet targets
- Assist in other store departments and respond to pet emergencies
