Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in our Kansas City, Missouri location, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll engage with pet parents and their pets, delivering best-in-class salon services while learning industry-leading grooming techniques. This entry-level role emphasizes pet safety, customer satisfaction, and store cleanliness.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Promote salon sales, recommend wellness solutions, maintain impeccable salon hygiene, and respond to pet health issues. Assist other departments as needed and uphold company policies.

Physical Demands

Stand, walk, lift up to 50 lbs (team lift 100+ lbs), work in wet/pet hair environments with moderate to high noise levels. Depth perception and composure under pressure required.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with strong communication, organization, attention to safety, and schedule flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays. Computer proficiency essential.
