Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart's experienced Professional Styling teams. After completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you'll deliver best-in-class salon services under supervision, build technical skills, and contribute to store cleanliness, pet safety, and exceptional pet parent experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per company standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, check-ins/outs, and reminder calls while maintaining client records.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote services/merchandise, and drive salon sales targets.
- Ensure salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to sick/injured pets immediately.
- Assist other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Seek candidates with computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), organizational skills, and strong communication. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a pet hair/wet environment.
