Role Overview
The Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) role offers hands-on training from PetSmart’s experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing the PetSmart Grooming Academy, you’ll engage with pet parents and pets to deliver best-in-class salon services while upholding company values, store cleanliness, and pet safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Recommend wellness solutions, promote sales to meet targets, maintain salon sanitation per checklists, and assist with sick/injured pets or other store duties as needed.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Requires computer proficiency, composure under pressure, flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends/holidays), strong communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a wet, noisy, pet hair-filled environment with standing, stooping, and reaching.
