Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while ensuring pet safety and exceptional pet parent experiences. Located in Kentwood, Michigan, this position offers a dynamic path to a rewarding career in pet care.
Key Responsibilities
- Under supervision, perform full grooming services like baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards.
- Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/check-outs, and make reminder calls.
- Recommend wellness solutions, promote services and merchandise to drive salon sales.
- Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness and humane conditions; respond to pet health issues immediately.
- Assist in other departments and follow all company policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred but not required—complete our Salon Academy for certification. Successful candidates demonstrate composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ pounds in a fast-paced, pet-filled environment. Flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is essential.
