Role Overview

As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training) in Kingsport, Tennessee, you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams. After successfully completing PetSmart’s Grooming Academy, you'll engage with pet parents and their pets, delivering best-in-class salon services while learning industry-leading grooming techniques. This entry-level role shares responsibility for store cleanliness, pet safety, and recommending solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct reminder calls, and handle check-in/out procedures. Promote salon sales, recommend merchandise, maintain salon sanitation, and ensure humane pet conditions. Take action on sick/injured pets and assist other departments as needed.

Experience & Skills

Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy training and safety certification. Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication skills, ability to work under pressure, and flexibility for evenings/weekends/holidays required. Physical demands include lifting 50+ lbs, standing, stooping, and working in a wet, pet hair-filled environment with moderate to high noise.
