Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on guidance from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role builds foundational skills in delivering best-in-class salon services while upholding our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards. Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care. Engage pet parents to recommend wellness solutions, manage appointments, and drive salon sales. Maintain impeccable salon cleanliness, monitor pet health, and assist across store departments as needed. Follow all policies for a safe, humane environment.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred with a possible technical exam. Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Key traits include flexibility for varied shifts, composure under pressure, strong communication, organizational skills, and physical ability to lift 50+ lbs in a fast-paced, pet-filled setting with moderate noise and wet conditions.

- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in pet hair environment (experience)
Responsibilities

- Recommend health and wellness solutions to pet parents
- Manage pet parent interactions, reservations, check-ins, and check-outs
- Maintain salon cleanliness, sanitation, and pet safety protocols
- Promote salon sales, merchandise, and rebooking opportunities
- Assist in other store departments and follow all company policies
