Role Overview
As a Pet Groomer Trainee (Pet Stylist in Training), you'll receive hands-on training from our experienced Professional Styling teams through PetSmart’s Grooming Academy. This entry-level role focuses on learning industry-best grooming techniques while engaging pet parents and ensuring positive outcomes under supervision. Uphold our vision, mission, values, and pet safety standards while contributing to store cleanliness and sales.
Key Responsibilities
Under supervision, perform full grooming services including baths, brushes, nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary care per PetSmart standards. Greet pet parents, manage appointments, conduct check-ins/outs, maintain records, and recommend wellness solutions. Promote salon sales and merchandise, ensure salon sanitation via daily maintenance checklists, and take action on sick/injured pets. Assist other departments as needed and follow all policies.
Experience & Skills
Prior grooming experience preferred (technical exam may apply). Must complete PetSmart’s Salon Academy and safety certification. Proficiency in computer applications, strong communication, organizational skills, and composure under pressure required. Physical demands include standing, lifting 50+ lbs, working in wet/noisy environments with pet hair. Flexible schedule for evenings, weekends, holidays essential.
